Hi, I'm Becky Delderfield and I am an independent celebrant. I'm based in Elford, Staffordshire and work with families throughout Staffordshire, Birmingham, Derbyshire and Warwickshire (and further afield if you feel I am the right celebrant for your needs).Sharing the important events of our lives is one of the most beautiful parts of human connection and I would consider it a great privilege to create a unique, bespoke ceremony for you or your loved one. Whether it’s welcoming a new baby, celebrating the love between two people, or honouring a loved one at the end of their life, I'll take what’s in your heart and put it into beautiful words in order to create a truly meaningful, individual ceremony for you.

About Me
I was drawn to becoming a celebrant after experiencing various personal losses and being asked to deliver a number of eulogies for family and friends. I found I had a natural aptitude to write about a person’s life story, capturing the relevant points, to deliver a fitting tribute. Becoming a celebrant therefore felt more like a calling than a career decision.After training with The Celebrant Academy, I now feel that my decision to become a celebrant was without a doubt the right one. I love hearing of people’s life stories and talking to families about their loved ones and their unique ways.I also volunteer with a hospice, working with people who have suffered loss to help them deal with their grief. This helps me to appreciate the varying stages of grief, when spending time with the families I work with.

Funeral & Celebration of Life Ceremonies
A well-planned funeral service is more than just a last chance to say goodbye to your loved one. Whether it’s a colourful and joyous celebration of life, or a quiet and reflective coming together, I can create the perfect, meaningful ceremony for your loved one; one that is personal, engaging and positive.By learning about your loved one through you and your family and friends, I specialise in writing compelling eulogies that really tell the story of a life; that capture your loved one's true essence, character and qualities and that reflect their wishes, beliefs and values. I can bring a light touch of spirituality or religious tradition to the occasion and lead a well-structured and imaginative ceremony, written and spoken from the heart. I will help you find any readings, music or poems that you’d like to include and I will ensure I liaise with all family members who wish to be involved.I can lead the whole ceremony on your behalf, or support you and other family members if you wish to deliver parts of it yourselves; whichever, I’ll ensure the ceremony flows seamlessly. You can be assured that, whether the ceremony is performed at a crematorium, a burial site, an internment or scattering of ashes, your loved one’s unique life story will be eloquently expressed as a fitting farewell.Together we will:
- meet (or speak) at a mutually convenient time to talk and prepare for the funeral ceremony;
- establish the important elements of the ceremony to ensure your wishes are fully considered and included;
- determine who else you may wish to take part and say a few personal words;
- discuss the inclusion of any religious words, readings or hymns, if chosen;
- create your own personal tribute (if requested); and
- work in partnership with your funeral director, to ensure a smooth journey for you and your loved one, at a difficult time.If you would like me to help, please get in touch.
Plan Your Own Funeral
I also offer a funeral-planning service. Some people might find planning their own funeral very difficult to do; however others find it reassuring, knowing that they have planned their own ceremony and it gives them comfort, knowing it will be easier for their family to arrange in due course.I can visit and discuss with you a service that contains your favourite music, readings, poetry, blessing and eulogy that will comfort your family and friends when the time arises. The complete ceremony can then be stored with your will for the future.If you would to discuss planning your own service, please get in touch.
